Turkey Shirt

I saw at the Homestead Hollow craft show a handmade jumper with a turkey on it for $35. I said, I could do that! And I did. I just bought an ivory shirt at Target for $5.99 and a bit of fabric , thread, buttons & ribbon & viola! I had fun doing it and was really proud of how it turned out.
Now if only I could get the Thanksgiving dinner stains out of it!
This was my first attempt at anything like this. I am definitely not a sewer. I got my sewing machine for scrapbooking purposes, but it has really been a very handy machine to have! And I would love learn more and make more things for Cailey.
I am also going to do a christmas shirt for her. I have a very cute snowman design in mind.

But if anyone would like me to make one for their child for next Thanksgiving, let me know. I've got plenty of leftover fabric to make a ton!

My Spiderman Hat

I did this layout in less than an hour!!! And I know you can tell it too. I forgot to add the date on it and another thing that I'm gonna add. Nothing major though. I had this spiderman stuff leftover from the album I did for Richard's father's day present. So I had the majority already together so It was easy to gather the supplies for this one.
This was in the spring of '07. Cailey came across a toboggan.
The scan came out a little dirty looking. I promise, the paper is white, not dingy.

Bloom & Grow - March 2007

I really like this page. Not only is cailey growing, but I believe I am growing in my scrapbooking style as well. I really, REALLY had to take a big step and be brave to use this color scheme with so many patterns/colors going on. I'm usually just a 2 pattern paper kind of scrapper with a solid. But I have 5 different patterned papers going on!! I like it and hopefully I can continue to break out of my shell. Oh, I must admit, I scraplifted this layout from a CK magazine. Looking at it helped me to break away from my norm.
And I totally accidentally blurred the journaling after I scanned it and patching it together in photoshop.

Water Fun

I finally finished these pages, and they were so much fun. I've had lots of other little projects going on (halloween treat bags, etc) so I haven't been able to focus on my scrapbooking.
But these pictures are from June '06. The day of Cailey's 2nd Birthday.

Halloween Treat Bags

For Cailey's K-3 class at school, I made these canvas treat bags. I made a total of 10 including one for Carson. I hand stitched the pumpkin and added buttons as eyes. Was my own pumpkin design. I was going to try doing the names in other ways (rub-ons, iron-on). Those just didn't work. The puff paint was not my original idea, but I believe it looks best. I filled the bags with candy, fun toys & homemade sugar cookies with fun halloween sprinkles. They were a big hit.

Busy - March 05'

It's been forever, since I've posted. Sad I've only done 1 page. Here's a page from when Cailey was 9 months. Just some playing pictures. I've got one page in the works that hopefully will be done this week.

Little Blossom

Here are some of Cailey's 3 year pictures that we had done at Sears.
I used the Bohemia papers (by MME), which I love. I made the Flower accent to match the flowers Cailey's holding. I added some white ink to the flower to get a closer look to the ones in the picture. The center of the flower is some yellow shear ribbon and I added a little "diamond" to the center of it. Turned out cute. I basically got scrap paper and played with the look. I already had the circle paper scrap from the gift tins I made for the grandma's.

3 is Fabulous!

When I decided to scrapbook this print, I knew that I wanted to have the circles coming off of the picture by stitching. The only thing I used beside thread was some rub-on alphabets to spell out "is Fabulous". I wish I stitched "is" instead of using the rub-ons. So it would have been smaller. But I stitched the "3" and also the date. The scan looks terrible compared to the real page. White just scans dirty. And the picture looks really bad too! Wow, just don't enlarge it! =)

Cailey's 3rd Birthday Party! June 3rd

I had a pretty difficult time trying to get all the pictures I wanted to scrapbook on a 2 pg spread! So it sure does help when you print 4 pictures on 1 4x6! There are 28 pictures on this page!! I was afraid it would be too much so I didn't add much else besides the pictures. On the top right I made a "pocket" by sewing the 4 grouped matted present pictures and inserted cardstock labeled "Guests & Gifts". So you can pull that out easily to see who was there and what she got.

First Movie

We finally took Cailey to her first movie! I know, it's about time! I love her crooked smile in this picture and I really liked how this page turned out. One of my favorites. I printed some images of the characters and the sign on some cardstock. I stuck the characters onto the page with pop dots to make them stand out more. And of course I had to include the actual tickets! And I used one of my favorite scrapbook tools, my sewing machine! I did really bad on scanning this page!

Mother's Day 2004

Here's Mother's Day 2004 - Before Babies! But they were there! Jennifer's use of turning her belly into a table! I used a variety of buttons and also a few shrinky dinks! Remember those!?!

Christmas Card pictures of 2005

Another page on already on hand pictures. Christmas card pictures from 2005!

Time Together with PawPaw

I haven't printed any digital prints lately, so I've been going through my pictures to see what I have that were all printed from film. My mom took these pictures one day when they were babysitting Cailey & Carson and she gave me copies. Took Summer '06.

Waiting on a Star

This page has been in the process for months now! I have had other projects to work on so this one got put on hold. Thankfully it's done & I can move on!! I'm anxiously wanting to work on birthday pages since Cailey just celebrated her 3rd b-day.
I guess I'm happy with this page alright. I wanted to do something different besides all the square pictures, so I tried some circles. Which I'm not that pleased with, but I love the stars and the star of shape of the picture of cailey & richard. I had already done the circles when I decided on the star shape. Probably would have looked better if they were just in small squares/rect and just had the star shape. Who knows and I'm not redoing!

Gift Album for Jennifer

I created this album for Jennifer's 30th birthday present.
Since Carson is so into trains, I found a train chipboard album and new it would be perfect. I think she liked it. I tell you one thing, it took a lot of time trimming everything into a train shape!!

Father's Day Album for Richard

I made Richard an album for father's day. He was really surprised that I actually made one for him since I have only been making them for other people so far.
It was a no brainer to do a comic book theme album.
This is a chipboard album. Most people ask about what kind of material it is. Sortof like a kids board book. I purchased it at a scrapbook store. Unfortunately Hobby Lobby does not carry these (or atleast not to my knowledge).
The front cover was inspired by the old style comic books. With the small pic in the corner with the date underneath. I was going to do some sort of VOL 1 in the top right corner and while looking at some comic book covers saw a Superman comic with the big #1 with starburst and I instantly new that would be perfect and would make it look like #1 Super Dad. The Super Dad is a black glitter chipboard letters.
I purchased a spiderman kit and mainly just used the blue web and the white/blue comic paper. Along with star/patriotic type paper. I didn't want to go overboard on a specific superhero, even though spiderman is his favorite.
I used a magnetic closure to help keep the album closed. I used a ribbon and red buttons with a spiderman spider sticker on top to connect.

Lack of posts

Yes, I know. I haven't posted a scrapbook page in a while. I have one that's a long time coming that hopefully will be finished this week. I'm gonna be posting some things that I have been working on though.
I just posted some invitations that I made. I made the b-day invites in May for Jennifer's B-day.
I never posted the christmas invites so I went ahead and did that.

Some Projects:

Here are some cards I made:

Jennifer Surprise 30th Birthday Party. Sewed a pocket on containing information of Party.

Christmas Party Invites for 2006. I created the Merry Christmas on the front by using different fonts. Then sewed onto a green evergreen cardstock and stapled ribbon.

Valentine's 2007 page. Created a pocket for Cailey's valentine's that she received from school using a frame with velum and then sewn onto the page.

Summer's Sweetness

I landed on these pictures, 4th of July 2006 to scrap. Simply because I saw an idea a long time ago that I specifically wanted to use for these pictures. So here it is! I loved being able to finally use papers & stickers that I've had for years!!!!

Goodbye Pacy

Look below for the journaling so you don't have to try straining to read it in the photo.
Yes, you read correctly! Pacy is so long!!!! Finally! Cailey tossed her pacy Feb 13th, after it had been chewed to pieces. Of course I wanted this captured and to tell the story of pacy. Or atleast some of it. But I love this blown up picture of pacy. Cailey threw it away and I got it out of the trash can to take a picture of it, but I still haven't brought myself to throw it away yet. So it's hidden away. The picture on the top of the page, I tinted the green one in her hand, but didn't realize it until I picked up the pictures that she had another pacy in the other hand!! So I added some circles around them to accentuate those pacy's. Sorry that my scan is so crappy!!
Like I mentioned in a previous post, I'm trying to scrapbook differently. I want to scrapbook not only pictures, but stories! I believe that is the most important part of scrapbooking is telling your story. No matter what it is. Some things are nice to be remembered. So I'm really trying to recall the stories I want to tell and get those scrapbooked instead of just trying to get "caught up" on all these photos. So you will be seeing more current pictures scrapbooked (hopefully).

Journaling:
Pink pacy, along with the occasional blue & green ones, has been with you from the get go. No telling how many of these things we had to buy, but they made you so happy. We, well mostly me, had been dreading having to break you from pacy. If it was just up to me I probably would have let you have it until you were 3 (which was quickly drawing near). I believe you would have tossed it on your own. And I'll admit I wasn't looking forward to the not so great nights with you without it. Thankfully, Richard was very adamant about getting rid of it. We started in December '06 only letting you have pacy for naps & bedtime. Of course me being me you would get it a good bit off of the counter while Daddy was at work & I'd let you have it for a bit. But you had gotten so use to us putting it up that when you woke up you would hand it to us & say "Don't need it". You also got into the habit of chewing pacy and in January you gave it a new name, Paapaa. So we just let you chew away & never replaced it. However, every time we drove by Walgreens you would saw "get new ones". You were down to one pacy & you chewed a great big hole in it with a piece dangling. At that point I cut off the tip. Your fondness of pacy quickly lessened & you mainly just held onto it while drifting off. A few times you told me to put it up on the nightstand. Tuesday night, Feb 13th while I was taking a shower, you told Daddy that you didn't need it & "had nough". So daddy told you to go throw it away and you did! When I got out & Richard told me my reaction "I've got to take a picture of it first!". Cailey, you have done so good with this transaction away from your long time friend, pink pacy. It take you a bit longer for you to calm down & go to bed, but you haven't asked for it one bit! You are such a big girl!

Christmas Cards 2006

Ever wonder what people do with the photo Christmas cards that you send out? Well here's what a scrapbooker does with them (that is when they finally get around to it).
I guess I wanted to cram all my pictures on one page. I'm bad about that. But thought I'd make it look like they were push pinned on a board or something. So I used brads to give it that look. And I just cut out the names that were printed on the cards and put them on the picture. Easy enough! And yes, I put Cailey's picture from our card too.

Cailey's First Trip to the Mall

I skipped ahead a little to these photos. I'll probably start doing some recent pictures too. I'm gonna try revamping the way I scrapbook.
But I had the first page completed and then I noticed the pictures that are on the second page in a folder that I had forgotten about. They were in a folder that we created soon after Cailey was born of pictures to be printed. So the pictures on the 1st page I wasn't even going to have printed! So a second page had to be done. But I'm glad I found the photos. Cailey's face in the top picture on the second page is sooo cute. Her forehead is all wrinkled up!

Almost Parents

This page, I wanted to tell the story of how we chose Cailey's Birthdate. The Ribbon flower was very last minute thing. But it added some dimension to the page.

Expecting

This is probably one of my favorites in a long time! A few things that makes this one of my favorite pages: paper, stitching, and the butterflies & flower accents that are old earrings!

Baby Shower #1

I'm back to working on scrapbook pages. I had a Gift Tin Album to do for a friend, and I will be posting pictures of that one soon.
This one had been sortof in progress for awhile. But it dawned on me what I wanted to do. The patterned paper actually came from a card from the baby shower. It's not exactly how I wanted it to turn out, but it's cute. This of course scanned really badly. It's a white background and the edges were really dark. I tried cleaning it up a little, but I think made it look worse.
